Windmills

Good morning!

I just returned from a quick trip to western Texas. For a fiftieth anniversary party. For my husband’s aunt and uncle. It was well worth all the traveling in two short days. Great people! Great cause for celebration!

As we drove home to Tulsa across western Texas, we saw a lot of nothing. But endless fields. Some with cotton. A few cattle. It was flat as far as the eye could see. Until we spotted the windmills. Or wind turbines as they are called.

I love the sight of them, standing tall against the blue horizon with their stark white contrast. It reminded me of the classic, Don Quixote, that I read as a child. Quixote and his tilting at windmills. Or attacking imaginary enemies. Except there was no wind this Sunday morning as we drove by the miles of wind turbines. There was no attacking. They stood motionless in the summer sun.

I wondered if they were losing money. Standing there with no motion. Powerless. And just how much money did one of those huge monstrosities cost any way? So I Googled it. Like any other red -blooded American would probably do. Just in case you’re interested, you can buy one for yourself on Ebay for a mere $114,900.00. And free shipping to boot! That can’t be an easy task! And for the record, west Texas houses some of the countries largest wind farms. You know what they say, everything’s bigger in Texas!

Man can harness the wind to create power. Free electricity. But did you know the greatest power of all exists within the wind. It is a spirit. Ii is everywhere. It is Jesus. And he can control the wind.

Let’s all let his breath of life fill us today! And create his power within us.

When Jesus woke up he rebuked the wind, and said to the waves Quiet! Be still! Then the wind died down and it was completely still. Mark 4:39

Love and laughter,

Sandy
