Last night I attended a Quinceanera. My first.
For those of you who are not familiar with what a Qunceanera is, well let me tell you.
A girl celebrating her 15th birthday is a quinceanera. This transition from childhood to young womanhood is celebrated in many hispanic countries with a huge celebration. It is somewhat similar to a debutante ball.
Yesterday’s festivities for this young lady consisted of mass at Holy Family Cathedral at 2. Dinner at 6. Reception at 8. For hundreds of guests.
And a dress. The dress.
In this case two dresses. And elaborate decorations. And food and drink. And music and dancing. And friends and family. Lots of all of it!
She was a most beautiful young lady. It was a most touching event. I was so honored to be a part of it. To experience a culture with which I was not familiar.
Happy birthday Jennifer! You were truly a breathtaking quinceanera! Thank you for inviting us to yours! Who you are truly shone bright in your gold for all to see.Muy Bonita!
I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. 2Kings 20:6
