I am a teacher. I am an Oklahoman. And I am an American citizen.
One thing I am not is happy. Happy hearing the negative trash talk about our teachers. On the same note, nor am I happy hearing the negative trash talk about our politicians such as our legislators, our governor, and our president.
Do I agree with everything that comes out of the mouths of our leaders? Absolutely not!
Have I heard some doozies that I cringe at almost daily, especially during our state’s teacher walkout? Absolutely!
But, do I respect them as elected officials by majority vote, and therefore, refrain from negative trash talk in retaliation that absolutely nothing good comes out of in return because my God tells me to do so? Absolutely!
Let’s all build up, not tear down.
We cannot make our school systems, our governments, our state, or America great again with corruption and destruction. It will take standing together with common goals to rebuild. I’m not talking Capitol buildings and border walls. I mean relationships. With bricks made of trust, honesty, integrity, and doing the right thing, laid one at a time.
We’re all human. Let’s admit our mistakes when we make them, learn from them and not repeat them again, apologize and ask forgiveness, and move on.
This post is for you politicians with unkind words about others. Others with just as much human value as you. To you that don’t speak the truth. And to you with hearts that have turned cold towards things that truly matter. Grace I give to you! I personally feel like you could use a little dose of it right about now. We all could!
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29
