Today spring break draws to a close. Out with a week of rest and relaxation for many, in with the week Jesus rode a donkey in to Jerusalem to begin his journey to the cross.
Palm Sunday, also referred to as Passion Sunday, ushers in Holy Week, the last week of Lent, a week that began with a day of celebration as people stood in the streets laying down their cloaks and palm leaves in front of Jesus, a symbol used to honor someone thought worthy of the highest honor, as they welcomed him, their Savior and King, to Jerusalem, as he rode in on a donkey, another symbol, of his arrival in peace.
The palm symbolizes triumph and victory. It represents eternal life.
Jesus is the epitome of just that.
Today, whether you have palms or not, I pray that each of you take a moment to think about Jesus.
And every day this week. Especially this Holy Thursday and its Last Supper. Good Friday and Jesus’s death , Holy Saturday, and finally, Easter Sunday, the day of Christ’s resurrection.
His passion. His triumph. His victory. Think about just how worthy he is of our honor and what he actually did for us. With his gift of eternal life.
Jesus. Our Savior and King. Hosanna to the son of David!
May each of us still cry out today those infamous words heard round on that first Palm Sunday. Hosanna!
Thank you Jesus, for your salvation!
I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies. John 11:25
