Country Song

Good morning!

I recently read on Facebook an alarming post from a long time friend stating their life was like a very sad country song, and they wanted it to end. It saddened my heart. That they were hurting so at this time of year. And I couldn’t help.

My husband tells a joke, “what do you get when you play a country song backwards?” You get your house back, your wife back. your dog back, your truck back. Let’s face it. Most country songs are really, really sad. They are about what you’ve lost.

But it’s no joking matter! Holidays are not merry and bright for all. I’ve been there! They can be downright depressing! Many are alone. Many have no family or friends they can or care to engage with.Today’s broken families leave many alone. Apart from or without their children. Many feel they need a partner to feel loved. Many have no means to shower others with food and gifts. They have no job. No money. No sense of worth or purpose. There is nothing from their perspective to celebrate.

If you find yourself in any of these situations, don’t despair!  You don’t need things or people to complete you. God created you whole. He is all you need. And you can always celebrate what you do have! In Christ! You are never alone. You do have value. You do have purpose. You are loved. Rely on God to fill your void.

And accept the help and love from othere if they offer to help you through your country song moments in life. Angels do walk on earth. And it will get easier. Do not fear or be dismayed. Tomorrow is a new day.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.                              Deuteronomy 31:8

Love and laughter,

Sandy
