Today will be my first day back to school after Winter Break. It’s a PD day, professional development, for the entire staff. That means we’re the students. Our students don’t return until tomorrow. It’s TPS’s way to ease us back into the groove after two weeks of vacation.
I need to be eased back in to it. I’ve never had a paid two week vacation before. I’ve enjoyed these leisure mornings on cold days lying in bed reading and writing my blog with my husband and my dog there beside me.
I’ve enjoyed the time to slow down. Rest and relax. Enjoy family and friends. Time for home cooked meals accompanied by a nice glass of wine. (That’s okay! Even Jesus turned water into wine, ya know!)
Today the pace will soon quicken. Priorities will change. It’s time to switch gears to teaching my new position. Special education, or as it’s now referred to, exceptional student services, taught to fourth graders. Reading and math.
But tonight I will come home, and one last time, unwind. Relax. With our new Christmas present from my middle daughter, a beautiful decanter. We’ve already enjoyed the bottle of wine from my youngest daughter. After all, it is Winesday. 🍷 Oops! Make that Wednesday. 😉
As each of you return to your current lifestyles, back to work and back to your own homes, following a season of holiday celebrations, may you reflect on the love, the laughter, and the joy shared by all. Friends and family. They are the best! Gifts to truly treasure.
And just like fine wine, they get better with time. We grow to appreciate them greater as we age.
Here’s to Winesday! One last chance to relax with my loves before returning tomorrow to the business and busyness that we call life.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Psalm 133:1
Love and laughter,
