It’s Christmas Eve! The day before our Savior’s birth!
Today is the day we are celebrating Christmas with my family. Brunch at noon at my oldest daughter”s home followed by a Christmas Eve church service at 5:00. Then on to Dallas Christmas morning to celebrate with my husband’s family.
In spite of the cold, it is a time of great warmth. Warm homes, warm food, and warm hearts as loved ones gather around the world. A time of love and giving.
I thank God above for the gift of his son. The ultimate Christmas gift. The only gift we don’t have to wait until Christmas morning to open! It’s there for the taking 24/7! It’s one size fits all. Its inventory never runs out. It never breaks or runs out. You never outgrow it. And it can’t be returned. Although it is totally acceptable to regift it once you have it for yourself!
It’s God’s gift for eternity!
As we each gather in merriment in our own family traditions, opening our beautifully wrapped presents, let us all remember the true meaning of Christmas. The reason for the season. The only present that we each need. Jesus. Present in our lives. That’s truly the only gift that each gathering should not be without this year. And every year.
Why not unwrap that gift today?
But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
