Today is my last day with my students. We are watching the movie, The Polar Express. In our pajamas if we so choose. And drinking the most decadent hot chocolste ive ever tasted.
At the end of the movie I’m giving each student a bell. Just like in the movie. So they will believe. Not just in the magic of Christmas, but much greater than that. In something bigger. And better. That lasts beyond their childhood. My prayer is theyll believe in God. And themselves.
At 2:35 today room 309 will no longer exist. As we now know it. As we part, I’m telling each of my students they have homework. What? Homework over winter break?! Mrs carnes!!! Yes homework
I want each of them to promise me they will spend a moment each evening before they go to sleep and think about their day. What was good about it? What could have been better? Then get up and try a little harder the next day.. Sure I want rhem to have fun and relax over break. But I want them to be able to say their ABCs and skip count. But most of all, I want them to believe in themselves. Push themselves. Never give up on themselves.
They each have a bell to remind themselves. To believe. I know I won’t give up on them. They were my first. I’ll be checking up on them from room 132. Because I believe. 🔔
May each of you believe this Christmas season. In yourself. And in the true magic of Christmas. But more so, in our Lord and savior that was born this Christmas day.
It is written. I believed. 2 Corinthians 4:13
Love and laughter,
