Good morning!

I work every day with a fabulous staff, awesome students, and a garden full of turtles!

Our school is built somewhat in the round with three wings or halls extending out from it. In the center is one big garden complete with a pond and lots of turtles.  Perhaps a hundred of them! And if you look at them closely, you’ll see most are numbered on their shells. By students and their teachers. Math and science at their best. It has paths for walking on, benches to sit on, but stay off the grass! You have to be careful you don’t step on a turtle! It’s a beautifully landscaped habitat for our friends, the turtles.

Turtles are much like many of our students. They hide in their shell until they feet safe to come out and get to know you. Many of them own nothing more than what they wear on their backs. Yet they are tough and resilient to all kinds of circumstances they may have to weather.

How about you?

Are you like a turtle?  Do you hide in your shell? Has something in life caused you to withdraw?

My advice to you is to come on out! Experience life to its fullest. Be like the KW turtles and find a safe environment to surround yourself. Don’t stay in your shell that binds you.

Have a little faith. Christ can come beside you every step of the way. Just ask him. And don’t worry if it takes a little time to get where you ultimately want to be. Look at Mr. Turtle. He’s as slow as they come yet he gets there. One step at a time. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare?

The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong; nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all. Ecclesiastes 9:11

Love and laughter,
