My grandson, Tucker, started kindergarten this past week. He rode the school bus all by himself for the first time. And it was a hit! Oh, how that boy has grown! It seems like just yesterday that I was holding that tiny baby, my first grandchild, in my arms. Look at him now!
Just like that old familiar children’s song we all know and love, the wheels on the bus go round and round. Not just on Tucker’s yellow school bus as it takes him to and from school each day, but in life. It keeps right on rolling, each and every day, with or without us.
I don’t know about you, but I’m hopping on that bus. The one that’s rolling round and round all through the town. I don’t want to miss out on a single thing life has to offer! How about you?
Today is my first day of being a teacher. Of having a room full of somebody’s Tucker. My prayer is that I quickly get to know each one of my students with a love like I have for Tucker. But more importantly, that I reach them and teach them to be their best. That I create in them a desire to want to hop on the bus and never stop learning as they experience life and all it has to offer to their very best.
And just between you and me, because I teach at a public school, God may not be publicly acknowledged in the school system, but I pray that my students will see Him each and every day through me.
Here’s to a great 2017-2018 school year! For you, Tucker, for all my students in room 309, and for all students out there! They’re all somebody’s Tucker! Grandy loves you buddy! ❤
And don’t forget to go outside and see the total solar eclipse this afternoon! ☀
