Today is my first day of work for TPS. At Kendall-Whittier. As I drove into work I passed the Kendall-Whittier community GROW garden. And all I saw was sunflowers. Big, tall, vibrant sunflowers. Each one facing towards the east as sunflowers do.
Sunflowers are an important plant to grow in a garden. There’s sunflower oil and sunflower seeds. And they are fun to watch grow!
Sunflowers are seen as a symbol of happiness, strength, a love of the sun and sunlight. It is said they turn their faces to the sun. That was my mother. She loved the sun. And her face was always bright and shining. How appropriate for today, her birthday, to start my first day greeted by those sunflowers. Happy birthday Mom! This sunflower is for you! I love you! I miss you! 🌻 💛
Let’s all turn our faces to the sun. The Son that is. S-O-N. There we will receive our eternal light.
And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, Mathew17 2
