Did you know McDonald’s has joined the age of digital ordering technology this past couple of months with their self-serve kiosks?
My husband recently went to McDonald’s for some oatmeal for breakfast. And yes, I feel terrible about that! For the record, I was leaving early each morning for new teacher training, or I would have gladly made it for him!
Their purpose is to allow better control of customizing food to the customer. Cashiers could then move to the roles of table servers and concierges. In their exact words it will “enhance dining experiences”.
Okay, we’re talking McDonald’s here. The words concierge and McDonald’s do not go hand in hand.
Self-serve. We are no longer teaching our children social skills. How to interact with other human beings.
Self-serve. It’s becoming the American way of life. That’s the problem with this country, we are all too self-serving. We are much too concerned with serving ourselves than serving others.
That’s not God’s plan.
His plan is for us to model Christ, and to serve others.

Let’s all try and be a little less like McDonald’s and a lot more like the local church. Our world could certainly use it.
