Yesterday was National Ice Cream Day! It was 92 degrees outside, and I was on my way to see my oldest daughter and her family’s new home.
I passed a Braum’s. There was no denying it. We would have to celebrate.
And that we did!
As soon as the house tour was complete, we went to Braum’s. Just us girls: me; my daughter, Kristen; and my three year old grandaughter, Ava. Just the three of us. And we split a banana split. Except Ava needed a blue ice cream all of her own, so Grandy got her just that.
My own father had just visited them a few days prior to see their new home, but he did not bring ice cream. He brought green tomatoes along with him. One of his favorite dishes is fried green tomatoes. He brought them for my daughter to fix. For him. I was busy with high school reunion festivities. His visit was two-fold. To see her house and to feed his stomach. The fried green tomatoes were a first for the kids. And they were a hit! They loved them! And my dad loved his fried green tomatoes AND he loved the time spent with his great grandkids even more!
Who doesn’t love their grandchildren? And who doesn’t love ice cream? Especially in the summertime!
My grandson wouldn’t join us girls on our ice cream run because he was helping his dad with the yard, a job he was taking very seriously for a five year old. His dad is his pride and joy. I just love that!
It’s summer. It’s hot outside. It’s a great time to eat more ice cream. And love your grandchildren. The two go hand in hand.
Happy summer to all! I hope you got to join me in at least one scoop of your favorite ice cream yesterday. That’s one national holiday I definitely don’t want to miss! It was well worth celebrating! 🍦
I love you Tucker and Ava! ❤❤
