Friday morning brought the tree trimmers to our backyard. Two men worked diligently, one climbing up into our fifty year old trees and tying himself in, the other supervising from the ground.
They pruned our trees, cutting off the dead limbs that did not bear fruit, or in our case, leaves. There was a trailer full of them! When all was said and done, the yard looked so much cleaner and neater. It was also much safer. There were no limbs touching the house or power lines.
How about you? Do you have any part of you that might need to be trimmed? Pruned of dead sinful ways so you can bear more fruit?
I don’t know about you, but I know I’ve always got plenty of things to work on to improve myself! Just like the trees in my backyard, I say, prune away, dear Lord! If it’s not being fruitful, remove it from my life!
May all your backyards and your personal lives as well be fruitful.
Every branch in Me that doesn’t bear fruit, He takes away, and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, so that it may bear more fruit. John 15:2
