I started my weekend off bright and early with a 7 a.m. mammogram appointment on Thursday of this past week. I was asked to arrive by 6:45. Fortunately I live very close to the Natalie Building, and that’s the same time I’ve been starting work each morning this summer, so it was a no brainer.
Getting annual breast exams is a no brainer as well for me. I believe in preventive maintenance on everything, if you can afford to do so. Especially our bodies. And ladies, as uncomfortable as it may be, that means taking care of our breasts.
We take care of our skin and our nails and our hair. We need to include our tatas. They’re important. They nurture our young. They’re what stands us out as women. No pun intended. God even makes a point to speak of them in the bible on several occasions.
Let’s all get our mammograms. Let’s stop breast cancer in its tracks. And let’s all read Song of Solomon to see just how God feels about breasts.
Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle that graze among the lilies. Song of Solomon 4:5
