Lemons Into Lemonade

Good morning!

This is a familiar sight around our neighborhood.

Oklahoma Natural Gas has been laying new gas lines. Few yards have been untouched by the excavating and holes left in their well manicured lawns. A telephone call and a month later, and I’m still waiting for fill dirt to return and fill in one of the large, deep holes they left in my yard.

We’ve experienced broken water lines and loss of water as repercussion of the project as well. On the evening of the Fourth of July for starters. Ugh! Certainly not a day you want to be without water. And I must say, their emergency dispatch operators could take a few tips in customer service skills!

To say the least, it’s not been the most positive, uplifting experience I’ve ever witnessed. But I have no say in the matter.

Sometimes life throws you curve balls. Things you didn’t expect. You can sit around and complain about them and do nothing or you can make lemonade out of your lemons!

When Mullin Plumbing dug up my front yard to put in new water lines to replace the one that was broken, my sweet husband used that experience as the opportune moment to remove an extrrmely overgrown Yaupon Holly tree in their path. Lemonade out of lemons! Turning something sour into something sweet!

And there’s nothing better than a tall glass of homemade lemonade on a hot summer’s day!

So let’s all stop fretting over those things in life that don’t go our way, as we had planned. And let’s ask God for our needs with a thankful heart. And He will in turn give us peace. Lemonade out of lemons!

Today I may still have a hole in my yard. And a plumbing bill just as big. But I have a thankful hesrt. Today I’m so thankful that God gave me such a great man to come beside me and help me make lemonade.

Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds in safe union with Christ Jesus.             Philipians 4:6-7

Love and laughter,
