There’s nothing better after a long day than to climb into bed into clean sheets! The feel. The smell.
Crisp. Cool. White. 2,000 count cotton sheets.
In many parts of the world that is a luxury. People lie on mats or the floor or the ground. I’m blessed to have a roof over my head and clean sheets over and under my body as I slumber each night, as I’m sure holds true for most of you.
As I walked into the Saint Francis Hospital laundry yesterday to retrieve a bin of clean hospital isolation gowns for our unit and saw all the massive washers and dryers in use, it made me wonder just how much laundry do they do each day to provide clean sheets for all of their patients. I can’t imagine.
You know what they say, cleanliness is next to godliness.
And speaking of clean, no matter where we may lie our head at night, whether it’s on clean sheets or simply on the ground, I can assure you we will all sleep better with a clean heart. That’s how God desires us.
Let’s all do everything in our power to make sure that not just our sheets are clean. But what we lie on them. Inside and out.
Whenever and wherever you may next climb into your own clean sheets to rest, may you have sweet dreams thanks to not only clean sheets, but also a clean heart.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
