Today is Father’s Day. The day we honor our fathers.
This is the man that gave me my roots. That brought me into this world. That welcomed me in that hospital room in Chicago many years ago. And the same man that gave me my wings. That gave me my first bike with training wheels and my first set of car keys. That walked me down the aisle and handed me to another man to have and to hold. And he’s also the man that provided that old familiar nest to settle down in much later in life when both our lives had suffered great loss. And we needed each other.
This is my dad. My father. He’s 87. And for 57 years I’ve been blessed to hang out with this guy as his daughter. No matter how old I may be, I’ll always be my daddy’s little girl.
How about you?
If you are blessed to hang out with your dad, do it! And if not, I hope your memories can fill that void in your life. And whether or not your father is present in your daily life, we can all find peace in knowing our heavenly Father is always there. He always has been and always will be.
Here’s to fathers! Our rocks. Our family leaders. May each father out there enjoy his day today. May he feel honored by his family. And may each of us honor our own father. In person. By a long distance call. Or in our thoughts and hearts. And may we each honor our heavenly Father each and every day for his creation, his love and his guidance.
I love you dad! ❤
And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the landwith a decree of utter destruction. Malachi 4:6
