If you were a dog, what kind would you be?
I’d be a Golden Retriever.
I’d smile. Alot. I’d cuddle with my favorite stuffed animal or blankie. I’d whine for love and attention. I’d love to take walks in the park. I’d love to frolic in water. I’d be all about treats. And I’d be the biggest baby ever when anyone spoke harshly to me or my feelings got hurt.
Oh wait. That’s what I already do.
But I was describing my dog. Dakotah. Or so I thought.
They often say people take on the characteristics of their pets. I’d have to agree. My dog and I are two of a kind. Personality wise. We’re both two huge softies!
You see, Dakotah is a Golden. And he is a big baby. But he’s my big baby. He’s by my side the minute I walk in the door until I walk out of it.
Do you know who else stands by your side faithfully and loyally every minute of every day?
Jesus. Man’s true best friend.
Let’s be glad we’re not a dog. We’re human beings, created by God. In His likeness. To fellowship by His side throughout all eternity.
Here’s to our four legged canine friends! We love them, and they love us. More than we love ourselves. But not more than Jesus.
But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. 2 Timothy 4:17
