I work in the PICU. I get blood out of our tube system just about every day for one patient or another. I think nothing of it. Human blood.
But I bet those receiving it when it is all said and done think greatly about it. A blood transfusion can be life saving. Blood cannot be manufactured. It can only be shared by another living being.
I’m a blood donor. I’m O+ . The universal donor.
When you receive a blood transfusion someone else’s life source is being pumped into you. That’s pretty remarkable when you think about it.
That’s how it is with Jesus. He is our life source. He gave His blood to offer us life. Eternal life. He pumps His love into our soul and gives us life. Now that’s beyond remarkable!
How about you? Have you ever donated blood? You usually get cookies and drinks and t-shirts or zoo or movie tickets to entice you.
My father has had both blood and plasma transfusions, so I do it for the good of mankind. To give back. For my family taking.
Jesus gave His blood with no enticements. He gave as a sacrifice for all mankind. As forgiveness for our sins.
Let’s all take a moment the next time we take communion and give thanks. To Jesus. For His blood. It’s truly our lifesource.
This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Mark 26:28
