Power Outage

Good morning!

Last night brought severe thunderstorms to Tulsa. We had rain and thunder and lightning and high winds. And eventually, for some, no power. 😕

I was one of them.

Out went the power, but fortunately not my phone. I had battery power until it, too, went out. There was no power source to charge it.

It was 9:52. I was bored. What was I to do with no power? I couldn’t watch the storm warnings on TV or anything for that matter. I couldn’t read with no light to illuminate the pages. Oh, I suppose I could try a candle. I couldn’t cook a scrumptious snack or even a cup of tea with no power. What was a girl to do?

I laid down and closed my eyes and said a little prayer for safety and then I slept. Finally. Through the torrential rain and thunder and lightning and high winds. A much needed sleep. I finally had, too, run out of my power.

How about you?

What is your power source?

What fuels you? Keeps you going day to day?

For me, it’s Jesus. He is my only source of power. He is my light in the datkness. He is my protection from the storms. And all it takes to keep that power source plugged in is constant communion. I stay plugged in to Jesus. Without Him, my power is weak. It’s kind of like solar power. The sun is its source. Except for me, The Son is my source. I stay plugged in. Or I try to. Sometimes  I go astray. Unplug. Lose my light. My power. Then I come home.

I encourage each of you, if you’re not already, to unplug from those power sources that do not offer you your full charge, your full God given potential. Come to Jesus. Plug in to your true source of power. Then watch and see what lies ahead when His power works through you.

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness ” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Love and laughter,
