It’s a boy! ☺
Saturday, 1.2 million viewers, I being one of them from the smart board in my boot camp classroom, watched on livestream as April the giraffe, whose lengthy 16 month pregnancy finally gave birth to a baby calf Saturday morning at 9:50 at Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, N.Y.
Giraffes typically give birth standing up, which means the newborn calves have to start off their lives with a 6-foot drop to the ground. While it may not sound like the most graceful way to enter the world, every last detail falls into place as the miracle of birth concludes. The fall breaks the amniotic sac, severs the umbilical cord and most importantly, encourages the calf to take its first breaths which leads to standing which in turn allows it to nurse from its mother.
We waited anxiously Saturday morning as April’s labor began. But just imagine how April felt, waiting 16 long months!
Is there something you are anxious about? Something you are waiting for?
Let me encourage you to let go and let God. Give it to God. Ask God to supply your needs. And grant you patience. He already knows the desires of your heart. There’s nothing gained in worry.
Look at April. She patiently waited upon God’s perfect timing day after day for 16 months for her fourth calf to be born. And that he waa!
Now we just have to patiently wait and see what they choose to name him. 🙂
Congratulations April on your new son! 🙂
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
