It’s Easter! He is risen!
Today, as Christians, we celebrate so much more than just family gatherings with colored eggs and bunnies. We celebrate the cross and the empty tomb. We celebrate the resurrection, that Christ was crucified and died and rose again. He lives!
He died for you and He died for me. If you are like me, it’s difficult to fathom. I simply cannot grasp the greatness of it. I am so unworthy of such a display of love. That was the point. It was never about what we deserve. We cannot use our mortal knowledge to understand. We must instead use our faith. Our faith in God. Our faith in God’s plan. And God’s ways are not our own. They are greater. Ours are finite. God’s are infinite.
It’s Easter! It’s time to let your faith be your guiding light. Don’t be a doubting Thomas. Seeing isn’t always believing. Step out in faith and believe. Believe Jesus is the son of God. Believe He died for our sins. And believe He lives! Then leave the rest up to God. That’s what Easter is all about. That is why Jesus came.
As you hide the plastic eggs for your Easter egg hunts this beautiful day, leave one empty. No candy. No money. No prize of any kind. Let that egg symbolize the empty tomb. And Jesus. It is empty. He is not there. And when you are told that one egg was empty without a prize inside, remind them that that’s the greatest prize of all, the best you could ever receive. The risen Jesus.
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:5
