This season brings us Easter egg hunts which often bring us plastic eggs filled with jelly beans.
So many flavors.
The other day at work someone brought in Jelly Belly jelly beans and left them in the break room to share. As I ate them slowly one by one, I savored their flavor. Buttered popcorn, root beer, cinnamon, coconut, chocolate pudding, tutti fruitti, And black liquorice. I passed on that one. And for those of you willing to take the bean boozled challenge, there’s stinky socks, canned dog food, lawn clippings, dead fish, and barf. 😦
We’re kind of like those jelly beans. Each one from the same maker, yet unique in color, flavor. Some sweeter than others. Some a little sassier. And some just plain disgusting upon first impression.
We need to learn just like that jar of jelly beans to live together in harmony regardless of our differences. We need to focus on our similarities. We are all human. Children of God. Placed here on purpose with a purpose. To love one another.
I encourage each of you to keep a jar of jelly beans handy. They’re a tasty fat free snack for starters, but more so as a constant reminder of how we should live. Different yet together in harmony.
Happy Good Friday!
