We just started a new unit at school this past week. It’s on camping! The classroom has been transformed into a camper’s paradise. We have tents with sleeping bags and flashlights and outdoor grills and chairs and a campfire and fishing poles and fish and a boat and even some creepy crawly things. We’ll make s’mores. My favorite! ♡ We’ll read books and sing songs and tell stories all about camping beneath the stars. But most of all, we’ll have fun! The good old fashioned way! All you need to bring is your imagination! 🙂
I’ve personally only gone camping once that I recall. In the Pecos Wilderness in New Mexico when I was in college. We road in on horseback for five days. We road for miles each day and caught our food and slept and bathed right there by the streams in nature. There were no locks or doors or power whatsoever. I loved falling asleep listening to the night time sounds of nature looking up at the beauty of a star filled sky. It was so peaceful. I felt safe in our little camp.
Did you know that God’s word tells us that He moves about in our camp to protect us?
No matter where you are, God can find you. And protect you. We just need to keep our camps holy.
As spring ushers in summer and many of you may spend some time in nature camping, remember to take care of nature. Leave nature in nature. Pick up after yourselves while you’re there, and above all, keep your camps holy. Both literally and figuratively speaking.
Camping. It’s big fun in Miss Marilyn’s room. You ought to try it for yourself. Even if it’s only as far as your backyard to make s’ mores on the firepit or grill. 🙂
For the LORD your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you. Deuteronomy 23:14
