It’s Bowl Time!

Good morning!

It’s bowl time!

We’re talking football bowls here not toilet bowls. Although before it’s all said and done, I’ll bet a few teams would like to wash their scores down the nearest toilet bowl if given the opportunity.

Christmas may be behind us, but there are many a football fan whose Christmas list included tickets to go see their favorite team play at their perspective bowl game across the nation.

Last night we watched my alma mater, OSU, defeat Colorado 38-8 in the Valero Alamo Bowl 2016. Or I should say I was given regular updates by others watching it. I was working in the PICU of the Children’s Hospital.  I was watching cardiac telemetry monitors as Rudolph joined with the others in the reindeer games. Quite well from what I understood. Mason Rudolph is OSU’s quarterback.

There will be bowl games today and tomorrow and the next day. There will be the national championship game on January 9th. We have the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (Roll Tide!), the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic,  the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual, the Allstate Sugar Bowl, and the Capital One Orange Bowl. There are more bowl games than there are toilet bowls in the Super Bowl stadium! There are even teams with losing records playing in one bowl game or another.

A bowl in this case is a stadium or arena for athletic or musical events. But a bowl also can be a round, deep dish or basin used to hold such items as food or liquid.

Did you know that God’s word speaks of bowls too?

Not football,  although I know an awful lot of people that choose to believe there is football in heaven.:)  The bible speaks of golden bowls that are filled with incense which are the prayers of God’s people. As our prayers are lifted up to God, the golden bowls are filled until they reach a point when the bowls tip and pour out God’s power and provision on the earth.

Let’s all offer up our prayers to God in heaven. Let’s offer Him the sweet aroma of our prayers, so His power and provisions will pour out on us on earth.

And while you’re at it, I’m sure God will understand if a few prayers happen to go up for favor for your favorite team.

Go Pokes! Go Bama! 👍 Fill your bowls with dip and chip and chili and find a comfy spot to watch and let the games begin!

And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.                                   Revelation 5:8

Love and laughter,

Sandy
