Christmas Baking

Good morning!

Last night was a most splendid occasion. 🙂 I joined my middle and youngest daughters for an evening of Christmas baking.

Nothing makes the holidays feel more festive than sitting around the kitchen table with your loved ones watching a crackling fire, the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree, and stirring up some holiday cheer. Handmade with love. ♡

As we pressed the last Hershey’s Kiss into our hot, just out of the oven, Peanut Butter Blossoms cookies and shook our last ziploc bag of Puppy Chow (aka Muddy Buddies), my first thought was this was good. ♡

Instead of running into the grocery store and picking up several dozen cookies and a bag of Chex Muddy Buddies, we had lovingly made ours by hand. We had measured and stirred and shook every last morsel of these treats all by ourselves! As we ate and drank and visited and sampled our creations, we made not just Christmas cookies, we made memories. ♡

These two daughters are my single girls. They are beautiful, independent, vibrant, young women. Oh don’t get me wrong, they also have their men. But they are not my married with children daughter. So baking for them and with them was not the norm, but the treat.

As their mama, I sat back and just observed. I observed the beautiful home my middle daughter has made for herself and welcomed me into. With all its Christmas splendor. I observed the bond of sisterhood between these two as they worked together in their creations. Laughing and playing in their big girl kind of way like in years passed. Being an only child, that something which was foreign to me growing up. I observed their conversation of evolution and faith as my youngest had just completed a biology class.

I thought to myself. I get it.:)

I truly get it.

What God was thinking.  And feeling when He saw everything He had made at creation and thought it was very good.

Last night I experienced that very same emotion. Not just in the Christmas baking, but in life. In family. In love.  This was very good. ♡

May each of you experience Christmas this year as I did. Through the eyes of a child. Your all grown up child. It’s still magical! And all a part of God’s magnificent creation. He definitely did very good! ♡

Thank you Lauren for being the hostess with the mostest! I had a wonderful evening!  Thank you Maddee for making your long day even longer and your early morning come even sooner! Thank you both for making Christmas what it should be all about with your mama! ♡ I love you both more than all  the toffee and chocolate we made and ate last night!! ♡♡

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. Genesis 1; 31

L ove and laughter,

Sandy
