Keeping Warm

Good morning!

Yesterday’s high was 63, Sunday’s is supposed to be 21. Will Rogers once said, “If you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma, wait a minute, and it’ll change.”  The key to Oklahoma weather is to dress in layers.

That’s what I do when I work nights in the PICU. I layer. Long sleeve t-shirt under my scrub top in the winter. Short sleeves in the summer. Jacket on top. And if it’s really cold or I’m really tired,  the cherry on top is a warm blanket  straight out of the warmer.

My favorite part of working in a hospital is knowing where they keep the heated blankets.♡  The stash.

There’s nothing better than a nice warm blanket to cuddle up in to take off the chill and calm your nerves whether you are the caretaker or the caregiver. The heated blankets are for the patients, but I’ve certainly offered a blanket or two to their family in my day. And don’t forget the occasional staff member that needs one as well.

I love nothing more on a cold winter’s day than to curl up on the couch under a nice cozy blanket with a book or movie and a steaming cup of some hot beverage. Coffee, tea, or hot cocoa.

And what’s even better than curling up under a warm blanket?  Curling up with another living being. ♡ Your spouse. Your child. Your pet. We all love human touch.

Let’s all make a point of keeping the physical touch in our lives. It’s important.  It helps us thrive. Especially the young and the old. The elderly do not need to be forgotten. They need love and warmth too!  A simple hug can warm the soul of all. ♡

Let’s also make sure at this time of year there are ample warm blankets for those without heat. That live on the street.

Let’s all do our best keeping warm. I’m usually pretty hot stuff. 🙂 Body temperature that is. If you’re feeling chilled, just holler. I may not have a heated blanket to share, but I can certainly offer you a hug and a mug. Of a steaming hot beverage of your choosing.

Stay warm my friends! Inside and out. May God’s love blanket you this day and every day. ♡

Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone?                                                 Ecclesiastes 4:11

Love and laughter,
