Brussel Sprouts

Good morning!

Last Friday we had our holiday luncheon at work. The meat was provided, and all the staff brought the trimmings. We had a cornucopia of delectable culinary delights. Everything was so delicious from the dips and chips to the fruit and veggie trays to the salads to the vegetables to the pumpkin spiced and many other desserts..♡

I brought brussel sprouts. They’re one of my favorite vegetables in season at this time of the year. I love the way they grow on their thick fibrous stalks. This is just how they looked at Trader Joe’s when I purchased them. Who could resist this interesting little character?  🙂

Those tiny little buds are rich in Vitamin A,  K, and C and are a member of the Gemmifera Group of cabbages (Brassica oleracea) and are oh so scrumptious. I love them raw in a shaved brussel sprouts salad or roasted. With balsamic vinegar and olive oil, my go to recipe.  Or with molasses and honey and bacon, my newest find.

In spite of my love for them, not all others feel the same. They are known as the most hated vegetable. Sad, but true. 😦

It seems you either love them or you hate them. Very few are indifferent. Many claim to hate them without ever even tasting them. Males are the biggest haters when it comes to our leafy vegetable friend.

I seem to recall a similar story of someone rather than something that was considered hated. Jesus.  Many loved Him. Others hated Him. Just like our brussel sprouts, many claimed and still do to hate Him without ever even knowing Him. That is tragic. 🙂

My advice is don’t knock it if you haven’t even tried it. Brussel sprouts.  And especially Jesus.

I’ll gladly offer you both. 🙂 To try and see if you like them. I have a killer recipe for Brussel sprouts as prepared at Mahogany Prime Steakhouse that I’ll gladly share. Come on over for some Brussel sprouts and some fellowship. 🙂  And while you’re here,  I’ll gladly share my personal story, my testimony, to anyone needing to know Jesus. That’s kind of what I do each morning with my blog. I share Jesus. And I hope it inspires you to do the same. Share Jesus. In your walk and your talk. .He’s worth the risk of trying to see if you like Him. I can promise you He loves you.♡

Let’s not be haters. Let’s be lovers. Of Christ. And maybe even brussel sprouts if you are so inclined. 🙂

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.                                 John 15:18

Love and laughter,

Sandy
