Leave it to the three awesome ladies I work with to still think of me when I am going to be absent from work for several days the next few months and leave them shorthanded. (Although God has blessed me with one of the greatesta subs of all times, Miss D, to cover all my absences for both eye surgeries and post op visits. ♡) These ladies, Miss Marilyn, Miss Tara, and Miss Lacey packed a bag full of goodies for me to take with me for my overnight stay in Oklahoma City for surgery. ♡ A care package.
A care package is just that. A package filled with care. With love. With special things that you know the receiver will need and enjoy.♡
My care package included Wint-O-Green LifeSavers so I could spark in the dark, green apples, gum and mints, slipper socks, my favorite wasabi flavored almonds, Coke Zeros, milky way caramel candy bars, coffee nut M&Ms, and a sweet card with personalized sentiments from each of them. All things I love! But not as much as I love all three of those ladies! ♡♡♡
As I looked through my bag I felt as if I’d already died and gone to heaven!
Speaking of heaven, do you realize that God is always there with His very own care package for you each and every day?
As I sat there in my recliner yesterday under my warm blanket with my IV in my arm waiting for my turn to go into surgery, God reached into His infinite care package and pulled out Dr. Sarkisian to come in and pray with me. There were patients on both sides of me in cubicles also waiting. I saw other patients come and go to surgery. I never once.saw or heard him do the same for anyone else. I’m sure he did. I just did not witnrss it. Somehow God knew I needed just that. Wanted just that. The reassurance of God’s presence through the vessel of my surgeon. To set my heart at ease. I knew without a doubt God was there. ♡ It was all going to be just fine. 🙂
The funny thing about this eye surgery thing. It’s taught me to see beyond what my eyes can see. To see with my heart. To see through God’s eyes when mine are weak. To appreciate the beauty around me. That which is beautiful to the eye and that which is not. To listen more when I see less. Another example of God reaching down into His care package and pulling out just the gifts I needed. ♡
I come to you today with a thankful heart. For my care package from my thoughtful fellow coworkers in my classroom. For my sweet daddy to accompany me and take care of his little girl yet another time. For a skilled surgeon. For a successful surgery with no complications. For a luxurious spa retreat to rest and relax in during my two day stay in OKC compliments of my sweet boyfriend. For all the thoughts and prayers of friends and family. But most of all for a God that cares. About every hair on my head. Every blink of my eye. And yours too.
He offers us quite the package. A package deal. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Just like my care package, the gift is free from the giver because they care. If you haven’t already accepted yours, I encourage you to do so now.
A big thank you goes out to the best three caring ladies ever I am blessed to work with each day! Love you all! ♡♡♡ I can’t wait to “see” you all tomorrow!
casting all your cares upon him, for he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
