I’ve been in the process of decluttering my home, the home I grew up in. The garage was this weekend’s feat. It houses no car. Only treasures. Past day treasures. Present day trash. Fifty plus years of it. It’s become our own personal family PODS unit. Except not just for a temporary three months. For life. It was past time to let it go.
My dad liked to go deer hunting. There was fifty some years of propane fuel, tents, cooking utensils and stoves, chairs, car battery powered saws, coolers, and more in the garage alone to pilfer through. And we have been pilfering! Saturday brought the cleaning out of all unwanted chemicals. Years of stored, unused, and unwanted propane fuel, pool, yard, paint, and auto chemicals.
I was on a mission. When I left work at the hospital Friday morning I brought several torn down boxes home with me from their endless supply. I had a new roll of packing tape all ready to put them back together. I had made a prior appointment for a Saturday afternoon drop at 12:15 p.m. for my unwanted pollutants. I was ready.
Saturday morning we put the boxes together. There were eight boxes total. And I bet you can’t guess how many boxes we filled? Eight! We had exactly the right amount! Don’t you just love how God works out every last detail? 🙂 With seats down and hatchback filled, I was off to the household pollutant collection facility. I rolled in at 12:09 p.m.for my 12:15 p.m. drop appointment. I gave my name to the guard at the gate and proceeded in to the facility to drop my waste. Seven minutes later, my car was emptied and I was on my way. Its a top notch facility if you need to dump your waste. Just call then go visit them on a Wednesday and Saturday. Appointments only. No more once a year drop at the fairgrounds. I felt my burden lighten. The garage not only looked better, it was safer for all to be in.
What things are polluting your life? What do you need to clean out? In your home? Your garage? Your life?
With Jesus no appointment is necessary to drop your waste.
Let’s all stop polluting our earth. Let’s be conscientious of litter and pollutants that we carelessly throw away. Let’s place everything in its proper place so future generations can enjoy this land that we live in. Let’s take care of not only our own treasures, but also the ones God gave us. This earth and all its resources. But more so, let’s not pollute the earth with our dirty deeds. Let’s be men and women of value. Of integrity. Let’s be the same even when no one is looking.
I encourage each of you to clean out any hazardous supplies you are not presently using from under your kitchen or laundry room sink or your garage shelves. Then go one step further. Clean out any pollutants within. Drop not just your chemical waste, but your personal load as well. At Jesus feet. I can assure you you’ll feel better, look better, and live better! Let’s all live pollutant free, inside and out! 🙂
The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the everlasting covenant. ??Isaiah 24:5
