To The Moon And Back

Good morning!

I love you to the moon and back!  ♡

It’s a phrase used to describe one’s love for another. A greater love than the three simple words, I love you. Lots of people say it. I know I for one love hearing it. ♡ But what does it actually mean?

It literally means your love for someone is the equivalent of some 477,710 miles. 🙂 That’s the distance to the moon and back. Mankind has actually been to the moon. It’s a finite distance away. Perhaps it originally meant you loved someone to infinity.  Now it’s finite. But 477,710 miles is still alot. ♡

Unless of course you are discussing car mileage. The average auto gets approximately 12,000 miles a year. Someone saying they love you 477,710 miles is the equivalent to someone loving you for 40 years. At my age, that works. 🙂 That will take me to age 96. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that will be my forever. To me, that’s alot. But if we’re talking my daughters’ or grandchildrens’ lifetimes, that’s not offering a very strong guarantee.

It is said that the human heart creates enough energy each day to drive a truck 20 miles. That is equivalent to driving to the moon and back in the average lifetime. That is like saying you love someone with all the blood your heart pumps your entire life. Now that’s a lot. ♡

To the moon and back.                                No matter how you look at it, that’s alot.♡ But it’s still finite.

The problem with love today is it is finite. For too many. Most think of it in terms of the Greek word Eros. Sexual passion. Romantic love. A love based solely upon feelings. That can come or go with a heartbeat. And when it goes, so do they. I’m all about Eros. I’m a hopeless romantic.  I love the happily ever afters. The chick flicks. I’m all about romance, but I’m also all about Agape, an unconditional love for everyone. A love that lasts. That’s the kind of love I want to receive and offer to others if I have to choose between them.

That’s the kind of love God has for each of us. It is infinite. It is not fleeting. It is not associated with beauty or riches. Or the heated passion of the moment.  It is not a temporary state of mind. It is forever.

We may be able to measure the distance to the moon. But, we cannot begin to measure the love God has for each of us. ♡ It truly is infinite. His love never ends. That’s because He created us. He created the earth and the moon and everything in between.

Let’s choose Agape when we choose love. That’s how God intended it. Love for everyone.  Love for eternity. Through good times and bad. Love with no conditions.  Let’s choose to go straight to the source of love for our love. God Himself.  That same source that puts the moon in the sky each night to light the stars reminding us of His never ending love.

Heres my advice to you. Love God first. Then I hope each of you has someone you can love and someone who loves you…                                                                                 to the moon and back! ♡

I thank God that I do! ♡

neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.                  Romans 8:38-39

Love and laughter,

Sandy
