My life is such that I have flip flopped between night and day shifts the past year as needed. I’m presently working one job full time days with one little 12 hour night shift at my extra job thrown into the middle just for fun. Okay, maybe not for fun, but for financial reasons. It’s really not all that fun to miss out on slumber.
Sometimes when I awake I’m confused if I’m coming or going. If it’s night or day. One thing is for sure. I work when I’m not sleeping, and I sleep when I’m not working. And somewhere in between I do find time to have fun. To play. But I do rely on an alarm to keep myself on the right schedule. To keep my A.M.s clearly separate from my P.M.s. 🙂
How many of you wake up to an alarm? How many of you are familiar with this picture?
How many of you hit the snooze button a time or two before arising?
I know I have been guilty of doing so. Sometimes in an attempt to catch a few extra Zzzs. Sometimes to try and finish an interrupted dream. Whatever the reason, let’s all stop hitting the snooze button.
Stop snoozing through life. This is the only chance we get at it! Let’s live it to its fullest each and every day.
God’s word tells us not to be lazy or to be sluggards. A little rest is good, but being a lazy sluggard, slacking at our responsibilities, our purposes is not acceptable. Let’s all be alert. Watching over what’s been allotted to us.Utilizing our time wisely.
And since none of us know exactly when that time will come, let’s all be on guard! Stay alert! You know what they say, you snooze, you lose!
“A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest” Your poverty will come in like a vagabond And your need like an armed man. Proverbs 6:10-11
