When Life Gives You Lemons

Good morning!

It’s summertime!  There is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than a great big glass of freshly squeezed lemonade!  Yum! I love lemonade! ♡ When life gives me lemons, I try to make lemonade! 🙂

This proverbial phrase has been around for years. It has oftentimes been used to encourage optimism and a positive attitude in the face of adversity or misfortune. The lemons represent sourness, bitterness, or the difficulties in life, while lemonade is considered a sweet drink, offering us refreshment. I’ll never forget my husband giving our baby daughter a lemon slice to suck on as an infant. Oh the face she made as she initially experienced the bitter fruit! 😦

It’s been said that we cannot become what we want to be by remaining what we are. It’s kind of like the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Change is inevitable. And with it we often are faced with adversity. Let’s all face it and embrace it just like my daughter and her lemon slice, no matter how bitter it may originally taste.  Let’s all step outside of our comfort zones. Let’s all accept that God’s plans are to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us a hope and a future. Let’s make the most out of every opportunity that comes our way. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Let’s look for the silver lining to each of our clouds. When life gives us lemons, let’s all get out our sugar bowls and make up a pitcher full of sweet, sweet refreshing lemonade!  ðŸ™‚

Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.                                     Colossians 4:5

Love and laughter,
