Yesterday marked the loss of a legend. The world champion heavyweight boxer, Muhammed Ali.
The man who described his style of boxing as, “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The hands can’t hit what the eyes can’t see.”
He moved as graceful as a butterfly yet his powerful punch left a sting like a bee.
Yesterday Ali felt his last sting. The sting of death.
As Christians we should not fear death. Death has no sting. It has no power over us. It has been conquered. We should have no fear to lose what we cannot keep. We can only gain what we cannot lose. Life itself. Everlasting life. Thanks to Jesus.
And similar to Jesus, it took someone to attack Ali, who dubbed himself “The Greatest” to show his greatness.
We will all long remember Muhammed Ali, a great man both in and outside of the ring. A sports icon. But still a man.
Let’s all get in the corner of the one that is truly “The Greatest”. Jesus Christ. The man who conquered death once and for all. Who took away the sting.
Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?
