Founded in 1961 Rose Bowl Lanes was a bowling alley and Route 66 icon in Tulsa for many years. Today it now stands partially renovated as The Rose Bowl Events Center with turf and a basketball court replacing the once bowling lanes. The present basketball court is the old Reynolds Center floor from TU. Check it out online to see its new purpose. It’s a great cause. Memories on top of memories.
I remember as a child in early elementary school going there. My mother bowled. I would have to go to the nursery while she bowled in her women’s league every week..
As you can see from the sign in the lower right hand corner, due to a little electrical malfunctioning, it is now the OSE OWL. 🙂
A coworker of mine recently visited it with her daughter for a basketball game. She shared this photo with me.
We all have at some time or another seen signs missing letters or having letters scrambled by mischievous hands to form new words and meanings that we have chuckled at.
How about you?
Have you ever shown a side of you to others that is less than desirable? Not your best? Just like the sign in front of the Rose Bowl. You are not portraying all that you can be? You are not being seen and understood for what you fully could be?
Let’s all give this life we live our very best. Let’s make our lights shine bright for all to see. Let’s all be transparent. Let’s not hide parts of us from others to see, but show all our vulnerability to others. For in so doing they will see how God has worked through us. And just maybe they might see a reflection of themselves in us and take a leap of faith too.
But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.
Love and laughter,
