The Serpent

Good morning!

I was outside yesterday and came across a new friend sunning itself on the ground. With our recent rainfall, there have been worms galore on the sidewalks at school, but this guy was a bit more intimidating.

What is it about a snake that sends chills up our spines? He has been destined to crawl on his belly all the days of his life since the beginning of time. He’s basically harmless.  Except for some occasional venom of course. Or the girth to strangle his prey. But we all know the end of the story. Cursed. He loses. He has no power. He crawls on his belly. Not much of a view.

We all have been given the power to walk upright by that same Creator. Let’s live that way too. Upright. Honest. Upstanding. Respectable. The view is so much more exciting.  Let’s enjoy the scenery God has put before us. Interact in it with others. Live our lives to their fullest. With purpose. Not just lie in the sun on our bellies waiting for our next prey to scurry by.

The LORD God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you will go, And dust you will eat All the days of your life;
Genesis 3:14

Love and laughter,
