Sleep Tight

Good morning!

How did you sleep last night?
After springing forward yesterday you probably are feeling that lost hour.

Did you sleep tight?

Sleep tight. Common words spoken before one retires to bed meaning to sleep well or soundly.

Some believe that phrase dates back  from the days when mattresses were supported by ropes which needed to be pulled tight to provide a well-sprung bed.

Then there’s the rest of the phrase we all know and love…
“Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite”.
NOT!

I don’t know about you, but I find that little ditty somewhat detrimental for a good night’s rest. Those words would send me anywhere but to bed if I could help it, and then would conjure up nightmares I’m sure.

If you are in need of rest, I don’t mean just a good night’s sleep, but rather a respite from life’s fluctuations, turn to Jesus.

Let’s all find rest in The One that offers rest not just to our physical bodies, but also our souls. I can assure you if you rest in Jesus, you will sleep tight forevermore.

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

Love and laughter,

Sandy
