Illuminate

Good morning!

Every year I pick a word to be my word of the year. I have the word and it’s definition made onto a necklace that I hang from my dresser to see daily and wear as a fashion accessory as the mood strikes me.

This year’s word is illuminate.

Illuminate means to brighten. To enlighten.

That’s what I want to do in 2016. I want to brighten wherever I may go, and I want to help instruct or enlighten those around me in making good, right choices.

With God’s help I can. Certainly not by my own strength or power. I have none. But I am mighty with Christ beside me!

What’s your word?

What’s your plan?

I hope whatever you may choose, you let it define you.

Last year my word was novaturient. It means desiring or seeking powerful change in one’s life, behavior, or situation.

I’ve been working on it this past year. Change. Some things in my life have not changed. I still live with my dad in the old family home. I believe that’s right where God wants me for now. But I did change jobs. From health care to education.  From nights to days. I tried a new approach to writing, and I completed my first book. I just never planned it to be a devotional. But God did! 🙂

My attempts towards change have been baby steps, but they’ve created the beginnings of some of the change I desire in my life. I’ll keep on keeping on.

God shows me new possibilities each day. He shows me sometimes that the changes I desire may not be the best ones for me. I guess you could say He illuminates the path I should follow ever so patiently letting me discover for myself when it’s not in my best interest.

I pray God illuminates your path for you in 2016. Right where you need to be. And I’ll be trying my hardest to illuminate my path for others to see their own light shining brightly within.

“For so the Lord has commanded us, ‘I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.'”
Acts 13:47

Love and laughter,

Sandy
