Swoosh

Good morning!

Just do it.

That’s what I told myself a year ago. I wanted to write a book. I’d started several over the years only to have some life change deter it.

This time was different. I took a different approach.
One day at a time.
I did it.
I have accomplished my goal for 2015. And a life long dream. I have completed my one year devotional. It’s done. I have written a book. 🙂

Now to just print up a few hard copies for my 3 daughters. And my aunt. And the postman. Just kidding about the postman. 🙂 I was just seeing if you were still with me.

Speaking of “Just do it”. Nike. The Swoosh. Here’s an interesting story for you.

The world renowned Nike swoosh was designed by graphic design student, Carolyn Davidson, at Portland State University, in 1971. Did you know she was paid a wopping $35 for her logo work of art?

It was a job for Phil Knight, then an accounting professor and soon to be co-founder of Nike, but then just beginning Blue Ribbon Sports.

In September 1983, almost three years after the company went public,  Davidson was invited to a company lunch in her honor where she was presented with a gold and diamond ring engraved with the Swoosh and an envelope filled with 500 shares of Nike stock.

And the happily ever after of this story? Check out the value of her NKE stock today.

You never know when or where you just might be in the right place at the right time. Keep on your A game. She seized the opportunity.  Don’t be left sitting in the stands, and let yours get by you.

Swoosh.  The sound produced by a sudden rush of air. As it speeds past you.

Just do it.

Believe in yourself.  Believe in your skill. Then just do it. I’m certainly glad I did. And I know Ms. Carolyn Davidson is glad she did too!

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
James 1:22

Love and laughter,

Sandy
