Tulsa Run

Good morning!

Today is definitely a day full of fun for  Tulsans. Not only is it Halloween, but the day will kick off with thousands of runners occupying the streets of downtown Tulsa.

The Tulsa Federal Credit Union Tulsa Run has been held on the last Saturday of October since 1978. It includes a 2K, 5K, and 15K race between the start line at 6th and Boulder and the finish line on Boston between 4th and 5th streets.

If you were thinking of a leisure Saturday morning breakfast out this Halloween morning anywhere in the vicinity of Cherry Street, Woodward Park, Veteran’s Park, the Arkansas River, the Red Fork District, historical Route 66, or the Art Deco District where the race finishes, think again. 😦

From 7:45 a.m. when the races start until noon, Tulsa downtown and midtown streets will be blocked to everything but foot traffic. Two footed traffic that is.  Wearing tennis shoes. And race bibs. And a few wheelchairs.

And you just might see a vampire or Ninja turtle or super hero or two amidst the crowd.
After all, it IS Halloween!

If you’re feeling adventuresome, skip the fattening bisquits and gravy you were dreaming about and instead opt for a granola bar. Then throw on a windbreaker or hoodie or better yet, a costume, and come on out and cheer on your favorite runners.

It’s true you will be surrounded by crowds. But that’s half the fun of it!

Whether you are participating in the Tulsa Run or merely spectating, let us all run with endurance the race that God has set before each of us. Let’s train ourselves to endure any hardships we may face and look instead towards our goal. The goal of finishing the race.

I don’t believe in luck, so instead I pray for a day full of fun and safety for all. I wish blessings on each runner.
And lots of candy to the trick-or-treaters! 🙂

Happy Halloween to all!
           Have fun
   at the Tulsa Run!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:1

Love and laughter,
