Student Parking

Good morning!

As you know, I am employed at a school. We have a couple of options for employee parking.
In front or in back.

Thank goodness we have separate  parking from the students. 🙂

Most parking lots have clear cut yellow lines marking the distinct boundaries which parked cars are to stay within. And most drivers do a fairly good job of staying within them.

Even our four year old student drivers can line up their rides in a somewhat orderly fashion. 🙂

So why do we have such a difficult time staying within the lines when it comes to living our own lives?  Living within the boundaries that God’s word sets out for us?

Can you spell  S-I-N?

Ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, we all have inherited the nature of sin. It begins in our hearts then moves to our minds through our thoughts then is expressed outwardly through our actions.

To park one’s vehicle means to leave or position it.  Let’s all join forces to park ourselves against the deceitful ploys of Satan. Let’s stop being student drivers and get behind the wheel and purposefully wise up to his antics to steal, kill or destroy our joy and godly life choices. Only Jesus’ death on the cross and our acceptance of Him as our Savior along with God’s holy spirit living within us can change our sinful nature.

Let’s all get out the yellow paint! Let’s clearly mark those spiritual boundaries we need to stay within. Then let’s practice, practice, practice to stay within the lines,  just like coloring in elementary school. Let’s practice reading our bibles. Practice kneeling in prayer and asking the holy spirit to guide us. Practice praise and worship with others that can help us stay accountable.

And then let’s thank God for sending His son before us to be the Great Teacher. To show us the way. He’s the one truly in the driver’s seat.

I was there when he set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries. And when he marked off the earth’s foundations,

Super Moon Harvest Moon Lunar Eclipse Blood Moon.

Good morning!

Now that’s a mouthful! But that’s exactly what it was!  The last one occurred in1982 and the next one will be in 2033.

I hope everyone got an opportunity to step outside Sunday night to view it.

I did! 🙂

It was a full moon, nearest the fall equinox, making it a harvest moon. It was in its closest point in its orbit around the Earth. That’s what made it a super moon. It was said to be
14% bigger and 33% brighter than the average full moon.

It also was a lunar eclipse.  That is when the Earth lines up directly with the sun and moon, directly between the two, causing the moon to fall completely in the shadow of the Earth.

The moon was a reddish color instead of completely dark giving it the title, blood moon.

image

How many of us were out there looking  at the same moon at the same time all over the world Sunday night? Pretty astonishing if you ask me. And with today’s technology and social media, we could see it closer and clearer and share in it simultaneously with each other worldwide.

It was definitely a love you to the moon and back kind of moment for me!

We all came together for a common cause. It made no difference what color our skin was, what our income level was, what our religious or sexual preferences were, we shared a phenomenon that doesn’t happen every day.

Can you even imagine what it’s going to be like when we all come together to witness Jesus 2nd coming?!

We are certainly living in the end times. Of course none of us know how long that is in God’s timing. But I can tell you one thing for sure, I wouldn’t want to wait around to find out before I decided to commit my life to Christ.

I’m in! I love Jesus with all my heart to the moon and back! ♡ And I hope and I pray that you do too!

Are you in to the moon and back?

Jesus loves each of us to the moon and back! He died for you. And for me.  And for everyone else including all those that were out looking at the moon together Sunday night.  You are God’s creation. Just like the earth and the moon and the stars.  Let’s all come together under the heavens and rejoice that our God is such an awesome God!

I will show wonders in the heavens
and on the earth,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
32 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved;
Joel 2:30-32

Velcro Dog

Good morning!

I recently heard the term “velcro dog” for the first time used in reference to my Golden Retriever, Dakotah.

What exactly is a “velcro dog” you might ask?

It’s a clingy dog that usually suffers from separation anxiety or begs for constant cuddle time with you.

Ok, so Dakotah may follow me from room to room and may never let me out of his sight. And yes, that’s his head across my lap right now as I’m writing this.

image

Hmmm. He does stick pretty close. And I guess velcro does make things stick pretty close together!  The term “velcro dog” refers to the dog that is hyper-attached. I’ll have to admit, that pretty well sums up Dakotah, and that pretty much describes the power of velcro as well.  I get it.

I googled “velcro dog” and found the reason why (wo)man’s best friend has earned this nickname.  Goldens hold the runner up title in most affectionate dog breed, only second to Labrador Retrievers   And they are indeed friendly and loving just like the article stated.

But so am I. Or at least I try to be. 🙂 We’re a match made in heaven. My dog and I.♡

Speaking of matches made in heaven, Jesus had that same kind of relationship with his disciples.  Especially John. Judas not so much.:(

I do love my dog, but don’t get me wrong. If given the opportunity, there is nothing I would love more than the chance to recline close to my Savior as John did! ♡ To look up into His eyes jand hear His tender voice speak my name. That makes me long for heaven right now

But for now I’m here. On earth. Me and my dog and my blog. 🙂 And my 3 daughters.  And a host of others very near and dear to my heart. ♡

Let’s all be Goldens. Let’s all be friendly and loving to everyone we meet as we remain here on earth. We may be the only Jesus some people may ever experience. Let’s all stick together like velcro.   Let’s love unconditionally like our dogs do. And let’s cling to Jesus, for He and He alone is truly man’s best friend!  Who else has died for you?  And if you are the timid chihuahua type and need a little coaxing,  I double dog dare you! 🙂

One of His disciples, the one Jesus loved, was reclining close beside Jesus.

Stay Positive

Good morning!

I’m optimistic.  I’m grateful. 🙂
Those are the first two topics covered so far in a six week series entitled Stay Positive by Craig Groeschel at Lifechurch.

image

I spent a few quality hours Wednesday evening amongst six of us doing life together. One dear long time friend, two newer acquaintances in my life that led the group, and two brand new friends I just met that evening.  We enjoyed a delightful dinner in fellowship followed by a discussion group over the biblical points of staying positive.

I’ve always been a feelings girl. I let my emotions rule me. I used to think that was just who I was, how I was made. But the more I delve into God’s word and studies on it, I see that is more of an unbridled discipline.  Not such a good thing. 😦  I’m definitely a work in progress in that area.

So naturally the point that spoke the loudest to me was one about feelings.

I’m optimistic.
“I’m optimistic not because of what I feel, not because of what I see, but because of what God says.”

I absolutely love that concept!

God’s word is absolute.  My feelings are not. I’m a child of God. I’m saved and  forgiven, and He’s already won the battle. Therefore I should choose to be optimistic about everything!  We all should!

My lifestyle is so simple these days compared to prior years of my life.
But it is enough.
I’m not a material girl. Relationships are what’s important to me. ♡

And for that…
I’m grateful.

I loved these points!
“I know every good thing I have comes from God.”
“I will not let what I want rob me of what I have.”

I can’t wait to see what jewels of wisdom the next four weeks will bring!  I’ll keep you posted. 🙂

In the meantime,  I will try very diligently to stay positive and be optimistic and grateful in everything I do.

How about you? Care to join me?
I’d be very grateful if you would! 😉

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Going Back

Good morning!

I’m sitting here writing this after working my first night shift in several months.

I left my full time position working nights in the PICU at the Children’s Hospital at St. Francis to go to days in a similar, but different career path, one still working around children. ♡

I left my full time status to take ECB status (emergency call basis) which is as need basis since I’d accepted full time employment elsewhere.

Last night I returned to the PICU for the first time to fill in as vacation relief.

image

It felt good to go back. 🙂

Professionally speaking, I’m not one to move on well and never look back. I don’t cut my ties. I don’t like to burn bridges.

I do the same thing in my personal life.

But one thing I have learned is that by distancing myself and having some space and time to think, may be just what I need to clearly see what I do and don’t want in my life. WANT is the key word here. God’s plan for me is what I NEED. There is a distinct difference between the two.  My wants and my needs.

Do your wants and needs match up?

I know mine don’t. 😦

I want chocolate.
I need vegetables.

God has a plan for all our lives. But He also gives us freewill. Sometimes I know I’m guilty of following my wants rather than my needs.

I often feel God’s gentle nudging in one direction,  but instead of taking that leap of faith, I look back and second guess myself or justify my choices and go in the opposite direction, the one that is my comfort zone.
.
We know God does not want us looking back. He has a better plan for each of us by moving forward. But what about going back?

Take last night for example, it felt good. It was my comfort zone.  But was it God’s plan for me? To go back?  Or do I totally let go and let God do a new thing?

I’ll prayerfully give it much consideration.  Just like my personal life.

I hope you will too for your own life.

Until then, I’m back again tonight to once again fill in and enjoy my old routine. My old friends. I’m…
Going Back!

18 Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Isaiah 43:18-19

Sandy

P.S. It was soooo good seeing so many of my PICU friends last night and this morning! I love you all! ♡

Roller Coaster

Good morning!

Have you ever had one of those days where life felt like a 16 hour roller coaster ride?

image

That was my day yesterday. 🙂  😦

It began by climbing high above the clouds to one of the most miraculously wonderful days I’d experienced in quite sometime then plummeted downhill at the speed of sound leaving my heart and stomach somewhere in between.

In my younger years the roller coaster was always my favorite ride. I would travel the country in search of a bigger better faster higher scarrier roller coaster. I loved the thrill of the ups and downs.

Today not so much.
Or at least not in my personal life.
I’m kind of longing for those fancy merry go rounds with their beautiful carousel horses. They play joyful music as they gently and slowly spin around and around.

In spite of it, I wouldn’t trade yesterday for all the tea in China. You see, it was a great learning experience.  I learned something new about alot of things. Myself, for one. I pushed my world outside of the box in several ways. That’s what life is about. It’s a journey that each day brings something new. If you aren’t comfortable with it just hold on tomorrow will offer another ride in the amusement park. One you will love!

Tomorrow will be a new day.

I also learned alot about my fellow man. Their boundaries.  Their breaking points. Their compassion.

In the ever changing world we live in, It is so comforting to know that we have a God that loves us every day unconditionally and is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  No roller coaster ride with Him. He’s more like the Sky Ride. Nice and smooth. High above the action looking down on everything. He’s got it.

As I reflect on my day yesterday,  I am grateful for all those I have in my life that care about me. That help me be the best I can be! I pray for all those that aren’t as fortunate. I’m grateful for the blessings of knowing my God. Knowing He is always there to love me, guide me, and comfort me.

I hope you are grateful too for the same things. If not, know I am here to help in anyway I can. God loves you. And I love you too! That’s how God made me.

He also made me love roller coasters! But next time let’s go to Disney World to enjoy them.;)

For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
Isaiah 49:13
