Penguins on Parade.
This penguin was a part of the 2002 campaign in Tulsa to promote the fundraising of the Tulsa Zoo’s African Penguin Habitat.
Penguins were sold for $3500 or adopted for $2500. There were originally 100 of them. You could find them all around Tulsa.
Want a free activity? What wouldn’t cool you off a bit in the summertime better than a search for Penguins? Not actually the real ones, but rather the works of art.
How about a scavenger hunt? Get your friends and family together and break into groups and set a time limit and see how many penguins you can find around town. There are approximately 50 still left around. You can Google it to find the list. Or pick up a copy of the book Tulsa Zoo’s Penguins On Parade that pictures them all.
Just like the penguins on your scavenger hunt list, you can be temporarily lost until you are found. God has each of our names written in His book. We can be lost, but if we simply call out to Jesus we too can be found.
I encourage each of you today to call out to Jesus if you are feeling lost in any area of your life. And I assure you, you will be found. No scavenger hunt. That usually entails a negative connotation as in hunting for discarded things. To Jesus you are a thing of value, great worth, to be celebrated. Be celebrated today just like the penguins. Stand out, unique, different from the rest, a work of art, waiting to be found and appreciated.
But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'”
Love and laughter,
